CELEBRATING SUMMER 2013

OUR SUMMER 2013.
It is my first time using a certain sketch to craft something. It took me a while to choose the colors and combinations but I guess I came up with something original.
I am using this sketch in the front cover of OUR SUMMER 2013 activities and celebrating the summer break... what a nice time to enjoy in family, with friends, under the sun, at the pool, in the backyard, growing our own garden, going to the beach... and so many more activities. It will be a nice memory from our fantastic summer 2013.
Hope y'all like it and give me some advice on how I can improve myself since I am new to scrapbooking.
Thanks for visiting my web page.

MATERIALS:
Scrapbook fantasy papers.
Color crafting papers.
White cardboard.
White and blue ribbon.
Yellow and blue glitter.

TOOLS:
Sketch (from 2Sisters)
Rotary Trimmer.
Scissors.
Glue.
Ruler.
Pencil.

STEPS:
  1. Choose your desire scrapbook paper design and using the sketch create your own combination of colors.
  2. Cut the different shapes (according to the sketch) and glue it to a white paper cardboard.
  3. Then glue all the shapes together following the sketch and add some “spicy” items such as, glitter, ribbon or anything else you would like to.
  4. This can be use in many different ways. Personally I used to create the front cover of our Summer 2013's scrapbook.

Mom & Dad: my Angels!

My son Tomas (7 yrs old), created this sweet Angels with his own hands.
I have been teaching my son about colors, how to use brushes, different kind of materials such as paper, play dough, foam, cleaning pipes, buttons... He loves exploring not only with crafts but with other stuff such as wood, nails, ropes and so on.
I told him I was entering in some Craft Challenges and that some of them allow kids to participate and he exploded! He said he also wanted to enter so here we are with his own project.

Of course, as his mom, I am very proud of his own creation and even more when he told me he wanted to have an ARTISTIC SIGNATURE and so he did!
MATERIALS:
Colored crafting papers (as desired).
3/4" brush or any other according to your taste.
Liner brush.
Acrylic paint in the following colors: white, lipstick red, Metallic Blue and summer peach.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Select the colored craft paper according to your wish to have it as a background.
Paint your hand with blue acrylic paint (in this case Tomas painted his own hand, I helped him a little bit) and press the hand in the middle of the paper to "stamp" the Angel's body.
Repeat process to "stamp" the Angel's wings.
Then with your finger try to make a circle for the Angel face, in this case we used summer peach acrylic paint.
Using one of your fingers too, make the Angel's hair.
Tomas used the back part of a brush to paint the eyes, nose and mouth.
Then with a liner brush made the Angel's ring.
Finally with the liner brush he signed up his little piece of art.
Hope y'all like it and try it with your own kids, grandkids, school children or whoever you consider properly to.

"A time to remember our freedoms and thank God for them"

Honoring our heroes, our family members, our friends, the entire Nation.

Materials: Hardware cloth, ribbon in different colors: red, white and blue for the flag; decorative stars ribbon, an old photo frame, goma eva.

Tools:
Wire pliers, scissors, hot glue gun, stapler machine.

Instructions:
Look for an old photo frame and measure it so you will know what size of hardware cloth you will need. Cut the corresponding size.
Then start weaving the different color ribbon through the hardware cloth to form the American flag.
For the blue square and starts, I used curly ribbon so I could give some kind of volume to it and I put some white curly ribbon to act as the stars.
Later, mount the finished flag in the old photo frame and secure it with picture framing points or staples.
To make this entrance door hanging more charming add some stars decorated ribbon with some red, white and blue stars shaped with the following saying: "A time to remember our freedoms and thank God for them.
Here is the finished project:

Hope y'all like this easy to do project to honor some family members, friends or just to decorate your house.
My son loved it and he even helped me to weave the ribbon through the hardware cloth.
Please feel free to ask me any doubts regarding this project, and please leave me some feedback.
I like to improve myself.
Happy 4th of July 2013!

Hope y'all like it.

Just starting...

I am new in blogs, so I don't have much to say about.
I love all kind of crafts, antiques and odd stuff.
I started making crafts since I was very little and have learnt a lot from different people and different cultures. My mentor and friend is not with us no more but I try to keep her with me by doing crafts and trying to be as creative as she was.
Hope I will learn how to be a good blogger.
Happy Friday to all and hope you will help me in this new adventure.
